Minor in Sport Management
This minor could land you in the majors!
The minor in sport management complements nearly any UIW academic major for a student looking to work in a sports environment. Students will learn about sports organizations and how they operate, grow, and meet their mission. From local youth league sponsorship to collegiate NIL deals to professional franchise analytics, the minor in sport management covers a wide range of topics important to the sports industry. Whether you are a die-hard sports fan or you would like a career in sports, this minor can benefit everyone.
Requirements
To fulfill the requirements for the Minor in Sport Management, students must complete the following:
12 semester hours (4 classes). These courses do not need to be taken in a number sequence.
- SMHP 3301 Introduction to Sport Management
- SMHP 3302 Human Factors in Sport Management
- SMHP 3303 Seminar in Sports Organizations and Public Market
- SMHP 3319 Internship (after taking two other SMHP courses
Careers Using Sport Management Skills
- Athletic Director
- Head Coach
- Professional Franchise Front Office Personnel (marketing, sponsorships, operations)
