RN-MSN Admissions

Applications to the RN-MSN program are available every October for a Spring/Summer semester start. Depending on prerequisite requirements, the start date may vary between March and June. Deadline to submit applications is at the beginning of April.

Admissions Requirements

  1. An associate degree with a major in nursing from an accredited program.
  2. An unencumbered license to practice nursing in the State of Texas or one of the compact states recognized by the State of Texas.
  3. A minimum of one-year experience as a registered nurse is preferred, but not required.
  4. A grade point average of 3.0 in undergraduate coursework.
  5. 60 credits of associate or baccalaureate-level coursework.
  6. Three satisfactory references (academic and/or professional).
  7. Official transcripts sent from each college/university attended (including hospital school of nursing, if appropriate).
  8. Individual consideration will be given to those applicants who do not entirely meet specific requirements.
 

Steps to apply for the RN - MSN

1. Application Deadline

The application cycle for this program will open every October with a April 1 deadline. Admission for the RN-MSN program is once a year in the Spring/Summer semester.

2. Complete the NursingCAS Application

We encourage you to complete and submit your application as soon as possible at NursingCAS. NursingCAS charges a fee for the application process. You must pay this fee to submit your application to UIW.

3. Submit Official College Transcripts

Submit all official college transcripts to NursingCAS. All coursework and letter grades must be entered from all institutions attended.

4. Submit Letters of Reference

Submit three satisfactory references (academic and/or professional) to NursingCAS.

5. Other Requirements

Submit a personal statement, CV/resume and a copy of current RN License to NursingCAS.

6. Additional Documents after acceptance to the RN-MSN

  • Official immunization records.
  • CPR certification (American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross).
  • Criminal background check.
  • OSHA, HIPAA and PPE training will be provided to the student upon enrollment in the program.
