Post-Graduate Certification Program Admissions
The Post-Graduate Certification program starts a new cohort each Spring semester. Applications are available every May for a Spring start date. Deadline to submit applications is September.
Admissions Requirements
- A master's degree in nursing or a DNP from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- A current unencumbered license to practice nursing in the State of Texas or one of the compact states recognized by the State of Texas.
- Courses in Advanced Health Assessment, Advanced Pharmacology, and Advanced Pathophysiology with a grade of "B" or better. A minimum of two years of relevant experience in professional nursing is preferred.
- Three satisfactory references (academic and/or professional).
- Official transcripts sent from each college or university attended (including a hospital school of nursing, if applicable).
- An in-person interview with UIW graduate faculty will be arranged for qualified individuals.
Upon admittance to the program students must submit a confirmation fee, which serves as acceptance and ensures a seat in the program.
Steps to apply for the Post-Graduate Certification program
1. Application Deadline
The application cycle for Spring 2024 will be available May 1, 2023. The application deadline for Post-Graduate Certification programs is September 16, 2023. Admission is once a year in the Spring semester.
2. Complete the NursingCAS Application
We encourage you to complete and submit your application as soon as possible at NursingCAS . NursingCAS charges a fee for the application process. You must pay this fee to submit your application to UIW.
3. Submit Official College Transcripts
Submit all official college transcripts to NursingCAS. All course work and letter grades must be entered from all institutions attended.
4. Submit Letters of Reference
Submit three satisfactory references (academic and/or professional) to NursingCAS.
5. Other Requirements
Submit a personal statement, CV/resume and copy of current RN license to NursingCAS.
6. Additional Documents After Acceptance
- Official immunization records
- CPR certification (American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross)
- Criminal background check
- OSHA, HIPAA and PPE training will be provided to the student upon enrollment in the program
